The county council is very disappointed that objectors to the link road, namely Transport Solutions for Lancaster and Morecambe (TSLM), have requested permission to appeal the decision by the High Court to reject permission to apply for a judicial review. (See previous update.)

While TSLM claim there are grounds for an appeal, they have made similar claims previously about the strength of their case.  However, in a robust judgment the High Court Judge decided they did not have an arguable case and dismissed all five grounds put forward by them.

We believe that the request for permission to appeal will be rejected, but while we wait for the Court of Appeal to do this, work on the construction process is being further delayed and costs continue to increase.

We know that vast majority of people want the link road to go ahead as soon as possible and we remain completely committed to building it.
