Northgate roadworks on White Lund progressing well

Work to fully reconstruct the Northgate/A683 junction outside Lancaster Honda garage is progressing well as contractors Costain move into the second phase of construction.

A section of Northgate has been closed since July 13th in one direction from Eastgate (Tops Tiles) to Newgate (Bookers), with one lane open to traffic flowing in the direction of ASDA. This allows space for the full-depth reconstruction required on the Northgate/A683 junction as part of the new link road to the M6.

The traffic management and construction work is being executed in four phases;

Phase 1  Work has been carried out in the verges, footpath and carriageway of Northgate nearest Honda’s showroom. From ATS Euromaster up to Booker Cash and Carry.
Phase 2  Work will switch to the opposite verge, footpath and carriageway of Northgate. From Newgate (Beeline) to Eastgate (Topps Tiles).
Phase 3  Work will be   undertaken to reconstruct the first half of the New Gate and East Gate junctions.
Phase 4  Work will be undertaken to reconstruct the second half of the New Gate and East Gate junctions.

All businesses on the White Lund Industrial Estate are accessible; however drivers must adhere to the temporary traffic management instructions and allow extra traveling time.

The Northgate/A683 junction works are expected to be complete and fully open to traffic again by the end of 2015.
