Traffic Management - w/c 6 April
Traffic management updates for w/c 6 April.
M6 Junction northbound 34 – 35 Wednesday 8 April 8pm – 6am
Full closure of motorway northbound from junction 34 to 35. All motorway traffic diverted north on the A6 to J35*
*height restriction for low bridge in Carnforth (A6) diversion via Market Street.
On Monday 23 March 2015 we closed the southbound lane on the A6 to allow the Slynedales Culvert (drainage) to be installed. We will complete the work in sections heading north from the entry to Beaumont Farm to the junction of Hest Bank Lane. Once in operation the closure will be in place 24 hours a day for a number of months using traffic lights signals at either end of the closure. Access to properties and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
2nd set of traffic lights needed for construction of plant crossing - located where the temporary bridge once was.
Once complete this crossing will facilitate dumptrucks crossing the A6. It will be operated during normal working hours.
On Friday 10 April from 8pm to Sunday 12 April 8pm, a section of Caton Road (A683) will need to close to enable works on the Heysham to M6 Link Road to continue directly under the M6 motorway bridge.
No through route – follow diversions or seek alternative route.
Motorway traffic will be diverted to the next junction depending on the direction drivers wish to travel on the M6. For example; southbound traffic from Lancaster will need to go north to junction 35 and then turnaround, likewise northbound traffic from Caton will also need to head in the opposite direction initially before re-joining the M6 at junction 33. Northbound traffic from Lancaster and southbound traffic from Caton should use the slip roads as normal.
Non-motorway traffic such as tractors, scooters, and learner drivers must use Low Road and Halton Road from the Crook O’Lune. Lancaster traffic bound for Caton will need to use the A6, Halton Road and Low Road.
During the weekend closure of Caton Road (A683), Costain will also complete service diversion works (duct crossing) across Caton Road near the Holiday Inn entrance. This work was suspended during February half-term due to increased levels of disruption caused to traffic.
